The harm reduction field understands how important it is to address the pleasurable effects of substances when providing people with information and trying to connect with them. 

Simply talking about the negative consequences of drug use can chase people away and make them sceptical of your message. People use drugs for many reasons, and experiencing pleasure is definitely one of them. Acknowledging that can be a first step to understanding each other.

 

But with people who use steroids, we tend to stress the negative impacts on the heart, skin and long-term sex drive, among others. However, what pleasures do people who use performance and image enhancing drugs (PIEDs) experience?
